The Story of American Time

Time is not a commodity. How you measure it, work by it and live by it depends on the craftsmanship, quality and pride that goes into each timekeeping piece. This is how we think of our work here at American Time.

We have over 26,000 customized timekeeping systems, clocks and parts to select from. We repair all major clock brands. Everything is designed and assembled in the United States, at our headquarters in Dassel, MN. Our small-town clock professionals hand-build our high-tech solutions. A real person even answers our phone.

Some may call that old-fashioned. We call it an unwavering commitment to quality, service and supporting our local community.

Our CEO, Jeff Baumgartner, founded American Time in 1980. He was the sole employee and sold system replacement clocks. The company quickly took root as it earned its reputation for being a single source for clock system replacement, especially among companies and organizations that used several different clock system brands.

American Time acquired other businesses over the years and eventually became a manufacturer and distributor of its own timekeeping systems, in addition to building up its renowned clock repair team.

Today, our team members work at our 40,000-square-foot headquarters repairing, manufacturing and servicing timekeeping systems for any customer that needs synchronized time, especially education, healthcare, government and manufacturing organizations.

Our success hasn’t come by accident. It’s come from the hard work, the tremendous dedication of our employees and our laser focus on quality, craftsmanship and superior service.

  • Our solutions are in more than half of the K-12 school districts in the U.S.
  • When the White House couldn’t find parts for a vintage brass clock, the staff called us
  • We serve some of the largest, most well-known brands on the planet
  • We offer free tech support for the life of the product
  • Our reputation overseas is growing

We are excited about the years ahead and we are working to attract fresh, innovative minds in engineering, R&D and sales to ensure that we continue to strengthen our leadership – without sacrificing the values that got us here in the first place. This is our commitment to having a global impact with small-town integrity.
